O Come All Ye Faithful

ChristmasCover_SCREEN.jpg

We had the honor of designing the cover of Derek Charles Johnson’s newest Christmas Album, “O Come All Ye Faithful.”

When our friends at Bottlerockit Productions approached us with a “Christmas Challenge” to coincide with this, of course we accepted! This challenge required shooting & editing a video…in ONE day.

So, friends, here you have it! Our super fast turn around mini project. For all you gear heads, this was shot completely on URSA Pro Mini.

We hope Derek’s rendition of “O Come all Ye Faithful” blesses you. You can listen & buy here: http://derekcharlesjohnson.com/track/1583944/o-come-all-ye-faithful

Behind The Bling // Dave Pittman

inside.jpg

This is a cool one. We have permission to show a little of our process with designing packaging for an album. We thought it would be fun to add a little 80's vibe to this cover by utilizing gelled lights and cool textures during the shoot. This cover is not the final which is set to release later this Summer but we thought it'd be cool to share where we started. Look for the official release info as soon as we get the green light!

Btw- if Dave looks familiar, he was a top 70 contestant on Season 9 of American Idol.

Behind The Bling // 17th Avenue Album Art and Shoot

ORB_Cassette_MockUp.jpg

Timeless. Memories. Family. American. Ask just about anyone his or her very own personal experience with The Oak Ridge Boys, and that’s the message you’ll hear. They’re truly legends, respected and revered.

Better yet? They’re back with a bang. On March 16th, The Oak Ridge Boys will release their newest album, 17th Avenue Revival. This album, by superstar producer Dave Cobb (Cobb), is in some ways a new direction for The Boys yet in other ways very much their wheelhouse. 17th Avenue Revival features songs hand selected by Cobb and The Boys. The goal was to create an album as a throwback to old gospel yet relevant to the next generation of younger fans. The result? A variety of lighthearted, heavy, slow-paced, fast-moving, respectful, irreverent works of art.

Indie Bling Studio was tasked with the privilege of creating a concept for the cover and album package design. This included all photography as well as layout and design of the final product. Over a span of three days, The Boys laid down tracks as Indie Bling’s team captured details and candid moments for liner notes, video clips, & music videos. The vision behind the cover was to create almost an old school "crooner" vibe. For the cover shot, Brandon (Indie Bling’s owner) suggested The Boys dress as if they had attended a wedding before ending up at a bar singing karaoke around an old 44 microphone. With The Boys huddled around the microphone, singing songs yet to be introduced to the world,  & entwined in the rich walls of history in Studio A, the album cover was born. “It was surreal then & it’s surreal now. We had a very short window to set-up, shoot, and tear down. "My small crew, Darius Fitzgerald and Jeffery May, were amazing. We set lights and got three sets with multiple looks including two wardrobe changes. We also managed to finish out a few of the detail shots that line the interior of the album. Literally, every shot in this packaging was created in Studio A. Super cool!”- Brandon, Indie Bling Studio.

The overall goal was to capture visually the sounds, textures, feelings, and even smells the team experienced while the songs were being recorded. In the end, Indie Bling created designs for The Oak Ridge Boys latest release on CD, Vinyl LP, cassette, along with the ads.

Textures From Studio A

BO3I7971.jpg

The title, 17th Avenue Revival, is both intentional & significant as it directly references the famous Studio A on Nashville's Music Row. In fact, the entire album was recorded in Studio A under the direction of Manager Jim Halsey. "These few acres were once the center of the city's creative music scene, home to an informal "producers' alley" where Chet Atkins, Cowboy Jack Clement, Bob Ferguson and others kept offices. It was on this site that songwriters and publishers once pitched and discussed the songs that would not only be recorded by major artists, but make country music history worldwide." –savestudioa.com

When you pair The Oak Ridge Boys with historic Studio A, you expect magic. That’s what this album is, from the lyrics to the music to the visual design elements. Pure magic.

IBPins.jpg
IBPins2.jpg

One of the coolest / craziest promo items we've done for ourselves are the Indie Pins that we created for our clients this year. We passed out over 100 of these bad boys and still have a few left. We've had some requests to sell these in our store (were we to open a store:) If you think we should sell these let us know and we may create a way to do that!

Nathan Sheridan

Recently we worked with BurtonWood Artist Nathan Sheridan. His bio says it all.

“Long story short, I was raised by my Grandparents in a small southern town and never thought about the future too much. I was never even that musical growing up until I picked up a guitar my junior year in High School. I joined the military right after graduation and never had even dreamed of doing music full time at that point. But God has been good and has completely cleared a path for me and has given me a platform to share my music with people who need to hear about his love, grace and mercy. Just recently I signed a major record deal with BurtonWood Records and I am releasing a debut single titled “Loves Like That”. I’m also in the process of recording a full-length album to follow it.”

“I am an artist who truly believes your pictures are equally as important as your music especially for someone like me who is just getting started. I have to say, by far, Indie Bling took the best photos I’ve personally ever had taken. Brandon, the photographer, really has a great eye and looks at photography as an art-form. He captures YOU in the photos and tells YOUR story. It’s something most photographers can’t do. I highly recommend Indie Bling, you won’t be disappointed.”

Unite The Boro

Nine churches in the Murfreesboro / Nashville area were looking to brand their "come-together" event called Unite. We were tasked with creating a large string-art piece that would be photographed and implemented into our print and web design aspects. Darius (@dariusfitz) shot and edited this short introductory piece to be presented at the leader's meeting. This event featured our friend, speaker Curtis Zackery (whoiscz.com), and is already bringing church leaders and students together.
